SOUTHEAST ASIAN MDS TOUR UMED-SIM

  SOUTHEAST ASIAN MDS TOUR UMED-SIM

UMED-Science Information Management extends its information service to our neighbors in Southeast Asia - - Indonesia and Vietnam. Representatives from Darya-Varia and United Pharma Vietnam, Inc., Unilab’s subsidiaries in Indonesia and Vietnam, respectively, visited UMED-SIM with their doctors.

On May 25, Myrna Justina, William Sanjaya, Diah Retno Widowati, and Sri Diniharim learned more about UMED’s Continuing Medical Education.

On July 21, two Indonesian cardiologists, Drs. Robert Edward Saragih and Irwan Harpen Siahaan, together with Darya Varia’s Nove Trimulya Cahyanto toured the library to check out its resources.

On July 25, representatives of United Pharma Vietnam, Inc. visited UMED-SIM. They were Product Portfolio and Regional Business Support Head Dr. Ton Nu Le Hang, Import-Export Business Manager Huynh Thi My Linh, and Medical Manager Tran Nguyen Minh Tri.

Another group from United Pharma Vietnam, Inc. went on a library tour on August 4. They were Ho Mac Gia Uyen, Nguyen San Tai, Lam Thanh Nai, Le Huu Hieu, Nguyen Quoc Tuan, Tran Thi Dung, Le Tran Anh Thao, and Phan Thi Phuc.

The UMED-SIM personnel - Filomena Juanillo, Maricris Cadaba, Renee Filio, Jenny Beguas and Sharon Alindayu – oriented the three groups with the unit’s products and services.

The doctors and the representatives from Darya-Varia and United Pharma Vietnam, Inc. learned more about the MD Central – UMED-SIM’s on-line information service. The MD Central is a web portal within the Unilab internet website which allows on-line requests and retrieval of medical and scientific information. The Indonesian and the Vietnamese doctors expressed their delight that they could avail of UMED-SIM’s information service.

The group also checked out the e-Scientific Database - - Unilab’s own database. This is a database of medical, pharmaceutical and bioclinical information that can be accessed through lotus notes - - a software with a broad range of integrated functionality. The Indonesian and Vietnamese doctors noticed its unique feature – aside from the journals and books acquired worldwide, the database contained the Filipiniana section. In this section are articles and clinical trials conducted and written by Filipino physicians.

The doctors also took a look at UMED-SIM’s collection of journals and books in the shelves.

UMED-SIM looks forward to providing information service to Indonesian and Vietnamese clients.
