March 18. A day of celebration as 2010 marked UMED’s 10th anniversary. UMED spent this special day with the Unilab family in a place UMED calls home - - the Bayanihan Center, Unilab main compound.

The three units of UMED – Events Management (EM), Project Development and Professional Management (PDPM), and Science Information Management (SIM) – bonded together to make this day a truly memorable one. Guests took a close look at the exhibit which unfolded a story - - the evolution of Unilab Medical Education and Development. It featured the photos of the Continuing Medical Education (CME) events organized by UMED since 2000. It also included the Philippine map that indicated the places UMED had conducted outreaches, interactive sessions and state-of-the-art conferences. UMED also displayed its 37 modules and 4 of its compilations, namely, Pediatric Updates, Human Brain Development & Behavior, Pulmonary Updates, and Bioethical Issues in Dermatology. UMED also presented its information services – MD Central, Science Book Edition and e-Scientific Database.

At 11 am, the guests headed for the JYC Hall B for the thanksgiving mass celebrated by Fr. Mario Sobrejuanite, SSP. After the mass, everyone proceeded to JYC Hall A for a get-together. It was a time to relax, reminisce and enjoy the company of the Unilab family. UMED’s Marianne Mencias and Yumi Sanpei were the hosts for the day.

Unilab-Medical & Regulatory Affairs Operating Vice President Dr. Alexander Tuazon thanked everyone for the support they have given UMED for many years. Likewise, UMED Executive Director Dr. Elizabeth Martinez talked about the activities and accomplishments of each of the units of UMED.

UMED prepared a special number – a fashion show. Four groups entertained the Unilab family with their own style of ramp modeling.

UMED looks forward to more good, good years of continuing medical education.
